To France

Tomorrow I am off to France on a mission of national importance - i.e. a short break, by Eurostar (the only way to travel). I booked it, by the way, with Railbookers, whose knowhow and customer service are second to none. I might be non-blogging for a week (or it might not be that long). In my absence, perhaps the Silent Yard will rouse himself to speak again. The hungry sheep look up and are not fed...
Au revoir, mes amis!

  1. Have a great time. Eurostar's almost worth it for St Pancras alone. I wish they'd do a wrist watch based on that lovely clock. I might be persuaded to change the habit of a lifetime.

  6. How wise of you not to use the Eurostar website, which has just reduced my wife damn near to tears of frustration. Not only is it obviously designed by the usual job lot of autistics, but it hasn't been working. Or, in the words of the Eurostar lass on the phone, "it's throwing wobblies".

  7. Eurostar horrors continue. The lass on the phone told my wife that her ticket would be e-mailed to her. It didn't arrive so she phoned them - no, no, she must download it from the website. But when she tried it was wobbly again. She enquired - oh well, you can collect it from the station "any time". So I intruded on the conversation - "Any time? When does the ticket office close?" "9p.m."

What useless twerps, what utterly useless effing twerps.
